Building Working Class Power Across Western MA

The Western MA Area Labor Federation is a coalition of over 60 unions, and serves as the regional body for the AFL-CIO in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin & Berkshire Counties.

We organize to build strong unions across the area.

Unions are the backbone of working class political power. We are working to build a movement that can take on bosses and win better lives for working families.

Education & Training

The WMALF’s Education Committee runs training programs to support our local unions and develop worker leaders.

Political Action

The WMALF works to elect pro-union, pro-worker candidates across the four counties. We also support ballot measures that will improve conditions for working families.

Union Solidarity

We show up for our affiliate unions and other unions in the area during their contract campaigns and other actions. If you need support, reach out to the organizer!

New Organizing

We work with the Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee (EWOC) and our affiliate union organizing departments to bring new workplaces into the Labor Movement.

Get caught up on union actions across Hampshire and Franklin County or bring calls for support from your own workplace. All union members, community members, and allies are welcome to attend. Wednesday, January 14th on Zoom at 5:30 PM We're excited to announce new program led by the WMALF education committee beginning this month! After our successful introductory stewards training last December, we saw a clear appetite for more spaces where stewards and other workers could discuss the issues they are dealing with and seek advice from others. Join us for one of our upcoming events in January. We're proud of our contributions to the Western Mass Labor Movement in 2025, but we're even more excited about what's to come in 2026! Our unions and working class communities are under attack. We're calling on Union members to join our organizing projects in 2026 so that we can build a fighting labor movement that can take on Trump and the billionaires.
